Hector Reyes developed an early interest in economics after witnessing his compatriots struggle to overcome Puerto Rico’s decade-long recession. He is pursuing both a JD and a PhD in Economics at Stanford University as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics at the University of Southern California (USC). There, he served as a lab director managing a team of 20 research assistants at the Lab on Non-Democratic Politics in the School of International Relations. Upon graduation, he became a fellow of the PhD Excellence Initiative at New York University. He hopes to become a university professor and economic adviser for the government of Puerto Rico.
