Career
Yingzi Sakura Huang is currently a team lead and the product admin of a knowledge base serving over 15,000 users at Equinix, the biggest data center company in the world that ensures critical services and the internet works without a hitch. She is also the Americas Membership lead of the AANHPI employee group at Equinix, and regularly leads, collaborates with, and assists employee group leads and volunteers on remote and in person events aimed at bringing the community together. She has over 10 years of project and stakeholder management experience across a wide variety of roles in technology, banking and retail industries.
Values
Despite her somewhat unconventional career path so far, Sakura has learned to always put your own mental and physical health first. Once you have and are taking good care of yourself, then putting others first is always the key to success and a better world. She focuses on building connections and relationships with the people she works with, acts on the motto of "making it simple and easy", and continuously practices while always learning more about communication, the lynchpin that makes everything we do and achieve possible.
Education
Sakura is originally from Shanghai, China. She immigrated to the United States in 2000 with her mother to live with her aging grandparents in Oakland, California. She is a First Generation Low-Income graduate of Harvard College with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, focusing in Leadership and Organizational Behavior. Prior to that, she graduated at the top of her high school class from The College Preparatory School in Oakland.
Impact
After work, Sakura often volunteers as a panelist or MC / host with the San Francisco Job Forum, a 70 plus year old organization funded by the SF Chamber of Commerce dedicated to helping anyone in the public find work through free and extremely low cost events that run multiple times every week. In the last few years, she has curated her own collection of mostly free resources for job seekers and workers on Notion, which she regularly shares with anyone who may find something useful in it.
Fitness
In her spare time, Sakura paddles with the San Francisco Dragon Warriors. She is competing with the Dragon Warriors in the Ravenna, Italy for the 2024 Dragon Boat World Championship this September, and looks forward to exploring other forms of paddle sports, such as one, two, four, and six person paddling.
Interests
For fun and relaxation, Sakura enjoys gaming, karaoke, eating, making, and sharing delicious food, and fawning over her chonky tabby cat, Hot Pot, and everyone else's pets.
