Dr. Rahman attended Howard University and the University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate studies. She went on to receive her MD from Yale University School of Medicine and her MBA from the University of Pittsburgh Business School. Her first clinical experience was as an OBGYN (a medical doctor who specializes in women's health by combining the fields of obstetrics and gynecology) with the National Health Service Corps providing care in a physician shortage area. Over the years, Dr. Rahman has practiced and volunteered in a variety of clinical settings which has increased her understanding of and appreciation for the importance of women’s health both in the US and abroad. Since retirement, Dr. Rahman has been focused on working to eliminate racial health care disparities.
