WashU Medical Student and Rare Disease Patient Advocate

AudreyStephannie Maghiro is a medical student (doctor-in-training) at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM). She earned her AB in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard University, where she cultivated her passion for medicine and social justice. She currently serves as WashU’s co-president for its chapters of the Student National Medical Association and the Association of Women Surgeons. Additionally, she serves as her class Health Equity and Anti-Racism At-Large Member in the Medical Student Government. Outside of school, AudreyStephannie is involved in designing and implementing the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) community engagement and outreach initiative in the Boston area. Through this work, she aims to bridge the gap between rare disease research and underserved communities, ensuring that underserved populations receive the needed attention and resources. AudreyStephannie is also a research assistant to Dr. Meghan Halley at the Stanford Center for Bioethics.
